Crowley Police are currently investigating two (2) homicides which occurred Sunday afternoon. The homicides are not related and occurred at different locations.
The first incident occurred at approximately 3:00 pm in the 200 block of Westwood Drive. Officers were called to the area regarding a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located the victim approximately 100 yards away from where the incident occurred laying on the ground. “The officers discovered that the victim had a faint pulse and began CPR, however the victim died on the scene” stated Chief KP Gibson.
This investigation revealed that Ericka Soloman, 26 of Crowley was involved in a domestic dispute with the victim at which time she stabbed the victim in the upper torso area. Soloman has been taken into custody and will be charged with 2nd Degree murder.
The second incident took place at 5:01 pm and occurred in the 1000 block of West Hutchinson Ave. Officers were called to the scene of a domestic disturbance where they were advised that a male subject was observed to be pulling a female into the residence. Upon arrival, officers received a second call stating that the male subject possibly shot the female.
“Our officers breached the residence and discovered that the female victim had been shot one time in the head area” stated Chief Gibson. “Officers were directed to a family member’s residence of the male subject, which was on West 6th Street. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody without incident”. Charged with 2nd Degree Murder is Marlon Mayfield, 40 of Crowley.
Both Soloman and Mayfield have been booked into the Acadia Parish Jail as of Sunday evening. These investigations remain open.
