Crowley Police have arrested a Crowley woman for Felony Theft and Crimes Against the Elderly.

Crowley Police received a complaint regarding a caregiver taking funds from the elderly person whom she was caring for. The investigation revealed the several thousand dollars were taken by the caregiver, however not by simply stealing the funds. Investigators believe that the person being cared for was tricked / diverted into releasing the funds by the caregiver.

“Crimes Against the Elderly stems from taking advantage of a person who is elderly where another crime has occurred. In this case, the funds which were taken have been deemed to be a felony theft” stated Chief KP Gibson.

Arrested was Cynthia Gauthreaux, 51 of Crowley. She was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail for felony theft and crimes against the elderly.
