A three month investigation has led to the arrest of a Crowley man on multiple narcotics charges.
Agents with the Crowley Police Narcotics Division and SRT members served a search warrant on the residence at 1027 William Egan Ave in Crowley during the late evening hours of March 20th. As officers breached the residence, the suspect involved in the investigation fled the scene on foot, however was immediately apprehended by officers without incident.
“The officers on scene did a good job of securing the residence and apprehending a fleeing suspect, thus preserving evidence and recovering illegal narcotics intended for the streets of Crowley” stated Chief KP Gibson.
During the search, officer recovered 10 pounds of Marijuana with a street value of $16,000. Also recovered were 9 grams of Cocaine, 11 Hydrocodone pills and 73 Alprazolam pills with a street value of $1,500. Also recovered during the search was a Glock .40 caliber handgun with obliterated serial numbers. Agents also seized over $2,500 in United States Currency, a 2005 Ford F-250 truck, a 2008 Suzuki four wheeler and a 2004 Honda 4 wheeler which officers believe where purchased with monies from drug proceeds. Official seizure paperwork has been filed with the 15th Judicial District Court.
“It is not simply about the arrest and recovery of the narcotics. We need to go after all assets of drug dealers to support our fight against this illegal activity” stated Chief Gibson.
Arrested was Steven Mayfield, 32 of Crowley. Mayfield has been charged with PWITD Marijuana, PWITD Cocaine, PWITD Alprazolam, PWITD Hydrocodone, Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds, Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance in the presence of a Juvenile and Obliterated Serial Numbers. Mayfield was booked into the Acadia Parish Jail.
