Investigating numerous concerns of narcotics activity at local hotels, Crowley Police arrested a Crowley couple on Synthetic Marijuana charges.

“We have been receiving information that local citizens have been renting hotel rooms to sell their illegal narcotics rather than selling it on the street. The belief is that the traffic at the hotel would blend in with those going to the hotel to make narcotics transactions” stated Chief KP Gibson.

Agents with the Crowley Police Department conducted surveillance on the various hotels and were able to identify the problem. “Our officers were able to make contact with the occupants of the room in question and observed in plain view packets of Synthetic Marijuana” stated Chief Gibson.

Officers immediately detained the suspects and furthered their investigation. In all, 61 packs of Synthetic Marijuana were recovered and along with US currency. Arrested were: Leron Angel, Jr, 37 of Crowley and Bethany Welch, 19 of Crowley. Both have been charged with PWITD Synthetic Marijuana. Angel has also been charged with Monies Derived from Drug Proceeds.
