Crowley Police along with Louisiana Probation and Parole agents conducted a quarterly review of registered sex offenders as part of the departments S.O.R.E. (Sex Offender Registration & Evaluation) program. This review occurred on March 13th at various offenders residences within the city.
“ Our goal of the S.O.R.E. program is to periodically check the registration of a sex offender and confirm that he is living at the registered address according to law. We also want to make sure that they sex offender is not violating any provisions of his probation or court ordered mandates” stated Chief KP Gibson.
In all, 13 sex offenders where checked as part of the program. Two minor violations were discovered which did not warrant charges to be filed but corrections on paperwork. Since the review, both corrections have been made.
“We will continue to make these unannounced reviews periodically to assure that the offenders are in compliance and the citizens in the area are as safe as possible” stated Chief Gibson.
